Olympics'21: Rings of Scandal?

The Olympics are known for their moving stories of victory, perseverance, and incredible sportsmanship. However, in glorious legends, the Olympics are always controversial, and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics are no exception. Under the glow of the Olympic torch, the best athletes in the world have faced each other for 17 consecutive days. The dark side of competitive sports always seems to show an ugly side. From the video censor pressing the wrong button to the Olympic organizers' lie about the summer temperature, these Olympics, as usual, were filled with conflict from start to finish.

Some of them are the following:

Japan's candidacy for the Olympic Games depends on weather conditions; athletes suffer as a result.

One of the main stories of the Tokyo Olympics is the extreme heat these world-class athletes have to deal with.

The real misfortune of the whole heatwave fiasco is that throughout the bidding process, the Japanese Olympic organizers were not as honest as they should be under the unbearable temperature situation.

"Due to the mild and sunny weather for many days, this period provides an ideal climate for athletes to perform at their best."This phrase comes directly from the official proposal made by Japan when it applied for the Olympic Games. It may just be our Canadians, but the low to average 30 degree Celsius temperature does not seem "mild" to us. The Spanish Paula Bardoza left the field in a wheelchair due to a heat stroke. Paola Bardoza of the Spanish team left the stadium in a wheelchair due to heatstroke. Another aspect of the growing controversy is that the locals knew from the beginning that this was a lie.

In 2014, when the 2020 Olympics were officially awarded to Tokyo,

reporter Robert Whiting wrote a column for the Japan Times. "I was in Manila, Bangkok, Jakarta, Phnom Penh, and Singapore in the height of summer. In my experience, Tokyo is the worst of them," he wrote. "The only worse place you can imagine is to have a game in Death Valley, California or the Horn of Africa."That was from a reporter. Now imagine participating in a decathlon race or running 10,000 meters at 34 degrees!

Many athletes are hospitalized due to extreme conditions.

Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee consultant Makoto Yokohari told Reuters that the temperature and humidity index made Tokyo the "worst [Olympics] in history" in terms of weather conditions.

But it didn't stop there!

The Japanese government, Olympic Committee, and local organizers only hope that there will be no more in the next two weeks The time is a public relations disaster between athletes or a new COVID19 case.

A new scandal occurred at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on Thursday. Just hours before the official opening of the new National Stadium, the main organizer of the event was fired for past jokes about the Holocaust.

Kentaro Kobayashi, a comedian and one of the creative directors of the opening ceremony on Friday night, made anti-Semitism jokes in a comedy in 1998, including the use of the phrase "Let's play the Holocaust" Dismissed.”

In a statement issued on Thursday, Kobayashi said, “I know my stupid wording was wrong, and I’m sorry. I am sorry for those who make me feel uncomfortable. "The

organizers tried to quickly draw a line on the event, but this is only the latest in a series of issues that plagued the Tokyo Olympics.

Although the coronavirus pandemic may be unpredictable and very difficult to defend against, many of the other issues that cast a shadow over the biggest sporting event in Japan’s history are the result of people’s misjudgment. From abandoned stadium designs to bribery investigations,

Covid is just the latest challenge, albeit the biggest, that has been caught in the dramatic Olympics for nearly a decade. Senior officials defending the candidacy, including former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, have ceased to serve due to scandal and pressure. The official cost of the Olympics has more than doubled from the initial estimate, reaching 15.4 billion U.S. dollars, including an additional 3 billion U.S. dollars required for Covid-related delays and security measures.

Fearing that the Olympics will become a widespread event, the support of the Japanese public has diminished, and the Japanese public is known as enthusiastic fans of the Olympics. A July 34 poll by the broadcaster JNN found that 34% of people wanted to cancel or postpone them again. The country’s largest companies have taken measures to keep their distance, including global sponsor Toyota Motor Corporation, which said this week that it will not place ads including the Olympic Games in Japan.

From doping to demonstrations to dirty officials, the Olympics has never been without scandals and off-site controversies. These scandals and off-site controversies have made the Olympics make headlines long after the torch was extinguished. The five-year gap since the last Summer Olympics is no exception.
