What is Global Warming?
In our day-to-day lives, we use a lot of things such as electricity, cars, etc, that use natural gas and other greenhouse gases which release a gas called carbon dioxide into the atmosphere also known as CO2. When CO2 and other greenhouse gases trap heat (that would otherwise escape Earth’s atmosphere), our earth's temperature rises. Greenhouse gases are like a blanket around the Earth, trapping energy in the atmosphere and causing it to warm. This is termed Global warming which leads to climate change.
Proof of Global Warming :
There are many signs that global warming is real such as -
1) The global temperature has risen about 2.05 degrees Fahrenheit (1.14 degrees Celsius) since the late 19th century
2) The arctic melting - Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets have decreased massively. Data from NASA's Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment show that Greenland lost an average of 279 billion tons of ice per year between 1993 and 2019, while Antarctica lost about 148 billion tons of ice per year
Effects:
During the past century, you and I have released large amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
When greenhouse gases build-up, the climate changes and this results in dangerous effects to human health and our ecosystems. For example, climate change can cause any dangerous effects for us, for example, respiratory and cardiovascular disease, food- and water-borne illnesses and other infectious diseases, and threats to mental health, our earth however will eventually dry up, more hurricanes will occur, arctic will become ice-free, etc.
In conclusion, we need to participate and try to stop global warming and other effects on climate change. If everybody takes a stand and tries to end most of the climate changes that are occurring, this world would be a safer place to live in.
